Made to run on more, Mesa’s capabilities go beyond just one fuel source. An included pellet adapter gives you the choice to burn with pellets or any fuel on hand. With Signature 360° Airflow, Mesa’s flames will burn ultra-hot whether you’re burning pellets or wood. Read on to learn more about Mesa’s Dual Fuel capabilities:
Burning with Hardwood: Keeping Tradition Alive
The best moments around a fire are fueled by crackling hardwood. Compared to propane-fueled fires, a wood-burning fire provides a grounding, soulful experience– keeping you in the moment and keeping your best memories alive. Mesa brings these moments even closer. Obviously, a tabletop fire pit can’t burn full-sized firelogs. What if they were… mini?
We’ve got just the thing. Solo Stove Mini Oak Firewood is cut to size for a night spent around your Mesa. Each piece is kiln-dried, then heat-treated for 75 minutes to leave your wood with the lowest moisture content for a clean burn.
Now, you can go ahead and just use chunk wood instead. However, chunk wood tends to be bigger and used for smokers and other cooking products, meaning more smoke will be visible when you use this to fuel your Mesa. Getting a perfect burn with traditional chunk wood might require more fine-tuning, especially if it contains sap. Kiln-dried to perfection and sustainably sourced, Mini Oak Firewood burns ultra hot, so you’ll spend less time tending the fire and more time creating lasting memories.
Burning with Pellets: Fueling Innovation
For years, our community has asked whether or not we planned on creating products that are pellet compatible… and we’re happy to say that the time has finally come. Mesa is the first ever Solo Stove product to burn pellets, and we are thrilled to bring this level of convenience to our product line!

Pellets are a widely available fuel source. There are two kinds– one is traditionally used for smoking meats, and the other is used for heating up indoor wood-burning stoves. Cooking pellets are created from food-grade sawdust, can be more expensive, and produce more smoke– therefore, these are the preference when smoking meats. Heating pellets, however, are made of typical wood types like oak and hickory and do not produce high levels of smoke. When it comes to burning pellets in your Mesa, we recommend using heating pellets over food-grade smoking pellets.
If sustainability is a cause that’s close to your heart, pellets are for you. Wood pellets are created from tightly packed sawdust, meaning every last fiber of burnable wood is being used for fuel. The packing process makes a heap of pellets denser than a pile of firewood, allowing them to burn even more efficiently and produce higher levels of heat. This compressed sawdust is still subject to the same rules of heat output as traditional firewood, meaning that hardwood pellets will typically produce higher BTUs than softwood pellets.
Whether you choose wood or pellets, you’re going to have a good time! In summary: Mesa brings warmth to the table no matter how you slice it. Warm memories, warm flames, and warm gooey s’mores. We hope you have fun!
